the name of a cultural hero, a Tolteca Chichimeca who settled in Tollan with three other Tolteca Chichimecas and four Nonoalca Chichimecas, according to the Historia Tolteca-Chichimeca or Anales de Cuauhtinchan. (central Mexico, sixteenth century)
This is the man or priest who pounded the entrance to the cave in the hill at Chicomoztoc, breaking the rim, which gave him the name Huitec (Uitec), "golpeador," in the translation of the Historia Tolteca Chichimeca. He then inserted his topilli into the opening, and "el xicotli, el pepeyoli" adhered to the topilli, which then gave him the name Xicotopille. This difrasismo is usually associated with being lavished with food and drink by the nobility, but perhaps here it refers to honey, symbolic of a vaginal substance? (sixteenth century, Quauhtinchan)
Quetzaltehueyac was a Tolteca-Chichimeca leader who, together with Icxicoatl, appears as a culture hero in the opening narrative of the Historia Tolteca-Chichimeca and who played an "Edenic" role from time immemorial in the altepetl of Tollan. They not only have an assocation with Tula but also "claim the right to rule in Cholula" in this narrative.
